Jockey 0 for 34
This jockey has his 35th mount. He is on a 6 to 5 favorite. Do you play him or not? Is it that the jockey cannot ride and win or has he been given bad mounts? Is it a bad investment to bet on a jockey that is 0 for 34 riding a 6 to 5 favorite?
Thank you iesbelucky |

I don't play jockeys or trainers with poor records.Sometimes underneath in exactas, but never on top.Several jocks at Aqueduct fit the bill.A.E Smith 0 for 20,Samyn 1 for 56,come to mind,as well as several trainers. The few times they beat you is not worth chasing them. The precentages and probability are against them.

Hey Man
if the horse is 6/5 and the jockey is 0 for 35, clearly there is a reason for 6/5. And the reason most likely is this horse belongs and deserves to be the choice.. Don't worry about the rider in this case unless you think he might find a tough trip to FIGURE out.. I would be more concerned with the trainer of the horse.. but the rider, NO, he's licking his chops ready to earn a check to feed his family.. bet that PIG!!!!
if you like him that is......Last edited by Mister Sanderson : 03-17-2006 at 11:44 AM. |

Trainers, Jockeys.
Every track has certain trainers and jockeys that never seem to win, I can find no reason to try to bet on these people. They may win once in a while but good luck trying to pick it, just throw them out and look elsewhere. I find it best to avoid losing connections as much as possible and to side with the winning outfits. This may sound obvious but every day I see trainers and jockeys being bet who never win. In the past I used to ignore the trainer and jockey for the most part and bet a horse if I liked it, but I found that a waste of money. It's important to follow your track very closely and know how to separate the bad trainers from the good ones, it's so easy to do but so few people do it. I will never understand
why people bet these 0-for whatever trainers and think that this is the day they finally win one. Avoid the losers and side with the winners, and that doesn't mean you have to play chalk. |
