War Pass looks like a Triple Crown Winner contender, if he can outrun his bloodlines. Hope he can, it's been a long time since Affirmed . Of course, I already bet against him in the derby futures(Visionaire, Elysium Fields). Sacred Journey looks like the quickest 3 y-o. He's running in Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn today.

I agree, Delta.
There has to be something wrong with him.
Hopefully nothing serious.
Having him ready for early May, though, has to be in doubt.

It's hard to make a judgement on the race until we know what happened. There is no way a horse with that kind of talent and speed just "didn't like dirt kicked up at him". Even not liking the track doesn't hold a lot of water with that kind of defeat. I hope it's something minor like losing a shoe (with no hoof damage, of course). I'd hate to think that something serious is wrong with the colt.

On another note, a nice run by Big Truck in the race. I remember watching Barclay Tagg at Laurel in the 80's. He always had a nice stable, but was perpetually behind King Leatherbury in the standings and on Maryland Millions Day. He can be crochety, but he's a talented horseman.

Are my derby future tickets pretty useless right now? Bluegrass Cat did not win the TB Derby and he turned it around in the Kentucky Derby. Does this improve the cases of El Gato Malo, Colonel John as more than second tier Derby contenders?

I wouldn't say your tickets are worthless, but you probably couldn't get a lot for them, right now. I hope we hear something, soon, that may explain the lack of run or stamina or whatever ....

The Horse had been sick all week, running a temperture, bumped coming out of gate, cuts on his legs. Tell me a hh) that would have won this race under these conditions. I think his next is early April.

I think he lost the race at the start. Coming out of the gate, into the turn, dirt in the face. All a new experience for him. Welcome to what it will be like on Derby day. I like his chances in the Wood, pending a cleaner break. That's a chance you take when you bet any horse in any race. I would be willing to take that chance in the Wood.

I could not make a guess yet, because I don't know if WAR PASS will even run in the KY Derby, nor do I know his competition, nor do I know his post position, should he get in....

For me, it's way too early to speculate!
