I'm going on record today with the "1st Prediction" on racing's biggest day. It's not that big of a stretch, but it is in one of the hardest races to handicap(Sprint). He won't be a single in the P6, but he will key the gimmicks of the race.
** GREG'S GOLD ** After (2) terrible trips, he may be in shock when he gets clear sailing in the race.ds: ds:

Ditto Greg's Gold. He was blocked for a 1/4 mile. Winning time was 107.2

Would you change jockeys on Greg's Gold I would have to think seriously about making a change , I know it is Espinosa but how can you get a horse blocked in a 5 horse field.bh)

The thought did cross my mind. But as you mentioned, it is Espinosa. He's come up with some big rides in his time. Plus, he knew he was locked in and he didn't try and do something stupid. If a hole opens up - He wins, if not - he'll get them next time - I HOPE.

Anybody happen to catch that time for “Idiot Proof”, 1:07.57 on the Cushion? Is the Monmouth DIRT faster or slower for the Idiot?

I HAD A $50 PIC 4...HAD GREGG WON> THE PIC 4 WOULD HAVE PAID OVER $300 FOR A $2 TICKET
HE IS A REAL NICE HORSE BUT HE CANT WIN THE SPRINT..IF HE WERE MINE I WOULD KEEP HIM IN CA..tu?
P.S. FRANKEL SAID LAST WED THAT HE IS SCRATCHING SOME OF HIS HORSES BECAUSE HE FEELS THAT THE TRACK AT SA IS TOO FAST NOT SAFE.

My money is on Fabulous Strike. I have him in a future book at 8-1 odds. His race 3 back sold me. Was timed at 1:07.2 and Dominguez did not press him. Think he could have gone around a 1:06.4. He destroyed Discret Cat in his last. Had a health problem at Calder 2 races back. The sprint race is always the hardest to pick for me but I am going to single it for the pick 6 this year.

When they're going 1:07+ they're pretty much along for the ride. I also think that D Cat is more of a "Miler". That thought was confirmed when the connection are opting for the Mile on the Friday B4 BC day.

I like Fab Strike too. I think it is ludicrous for Delta to say Greg's Gold can't win the Sprint, and glad he's not yours because he'd probably be suicidal. There's always a bunch of speed signed on for the Sprint, and the closers always have as good of a chance as they will ever see. The smaller the fields, normally the more controlled the speed is, so it stands to make sense that closers are at a higher advantage in larger fields.... the rest just depends on can they get through or around the hole.
Greg's Gold is good on dirt too.

That stinks for his connections, but IMO, that makes hitting the button in that race alot more logical. What I love about BC day is you can get a horse like Greg's Gold around a 10-1 price!

I too liked Fabulous Strike. Since he's not running, it will probably be wide open. Bob Baffert probably knows what he has in Midnight Lute, but an expected short price and a likely regression from that 124 beyer, will probably lead me in another direction for the winner. Benny the Bull might be the best of the possible closers, and Forefathers is shortening up after running some wicked fractions at 7f furlongs. Those are the two I would lean toward. Greg's Gold, although consistant, is a six year old who's best nowadays, may be a notch below the others, and Idiot Proof does have some upside as a 3yo, but seems a bit inconsistent. I do like In Summation to fatten the exotics, but I'm not sure he'll be on top, but then again, that's what I said about Sarava in the Belmont a few years back.bh) .
