Not sure which evoked more emotion from my heart grown cold, seeing Calvin crossing the line and the post race interview, how estatic and humble(" "I wish my momma and daddy were here.") he was/is, or the Barbaro special. I just couldn't be happier for Calvin. Poohey to all the nay-sayers. Also, I hated to see Jones/Pino run that well and lose. Congrats and condolences to them as well.

Calvin,
I wish your momma and daddy were there too. They would have been proud. The world and racing industry need more like you.

Check out his bloodhorse article along the left column. Good stuff.

Being a Louisiana guy, I am so very proud for Calvin. I've watched him ride for a long time from the little tracks to the big time and I don't know of any journeyman rider that is more deserving of wearing the roses.

One race like that can make a career complete and although biased, I believe that was one of the most masterful rides in KD history.

Congratulations to the connections of Street Sense and especially to Calvin Bo"rail". A class act all the way!

Now, win the next two.

From the Louisiana bayou to the White House for dinner and a visit with the Queen of England. That's how far Calvin Borel has come. Borel becomes the first winning jockey in Derby history to be invited to the White House.
