I dont know about you but I am sick of reading a set of coditions with the word OR in them. I.E. Non winners of 3000 2 times other than md, OR claiming,OR starter, OR state bred, OR non winners of 3 lifetime OR trained by Bob Baffert.

I realize that the racing secretary is trying to fill races with the stock on the grounds and attract more horse in. But I feel the new racing fan just gets confused and says im going to go play slots. Hell my family has raced horses since long before I was born and I cant make since of these conditions. I feel there should be a standard set of conditions that all recognized tracks were required to follow. for instance:

MdSPWT
Md Clm any level of claim you want the general public can understand a higher clm price is going to be a tougher race.
Alw n2l
Clm n2l
Alw n3l
Clm n3l
Alw n1y y= past 6 months
clm n1y
Alw n2y
Clm n2y
alw
clm
Stks
Graded stks

We could still distinguish races for fillies and mares and or state breds. If we dont let any track create their own conditions and stick to the above it wouldnt take but a few minuetes for a first time race goer to understand the conditions and maybe we would see some new blood in our game. Instead I see too many first time track goers saying the game is too confusing and hard to understand. So they play their favorite color or the horse who took a dump in the post parade and never return.

What do you guys think?

As far as the race conditions in the smaller print as in your example, I would say-
NW2 or 3l or during meet(or NW1 on grass or Polytrack including MD);
Sired at home state;
Sustain types only;
6 and up.

It would help if the conditions were easier to read.
Novices barely pay attention.
They feel overwhelmed, confused and conned.

I say the theory is, the more varied the conditions the better chance pigs have to win 1.
I like NW2L on grass for a 1 mile grass race. Period.
And 1 6f dirt toward the end of a meet for DQ'ed winners of $25k or less.

The varied conditions are what make betting possible. If the conditions were such that it would be easy to read and easy to track, the winners would be far more obvious, which would spark a serious downturn in betting.

Betting is what keeps the whole industry going, because without it, who would pay the huge bills created in purchasing and training, etc?

The trainers who enter the horses have no trouble knowing whether or not their horse is eligible for any given race.

To make a silly comparison, supposing I were to tell the pilot of a 747 that because his manuals are too hard for the layman to read, he cannot fly any more.

Let them be! :) And enjoy what part of it you DO understand!

Many of the NW since a certain date seem to be maybe NW since a meet began. Starter races are the non-claimers for claimers.
