Born on Oct 13,1953 in Brush ,Colorado, he grew up wanting to be a professional rodeo coyboy. His first victory came in July 29,1973 at Prescott Downs.....He has won over 8,000 races..In 1989 he won 8 of 9 races at Arlington Park.....He has won the Breeders Cup Classic 4 times and the horses
he rode are like a best of...Cat Thief,Awesome Again,Unbridled,Wild Again
Timber Country,Favorite Trick and Theatrical, and Lil E Tee just to name a few. I applaud Tampa Bay Downs for the work done to bring a horse racing legend to our little track.

I remember Pat Day coming to Bandara Downs around 1989 and riding $2500 claimers as he tried to raise money for the Chaplains program.

Wonderful man...tremendous asset to the sport. Still giving back through his program. Was an excellent jockey in his prime....but a source of vulnerable favorites late in his career in Kentucky especially. His mounts were so overbet the last couple years that it provided tremendous opportunity for those that sought to play against. That is the harsh reality in the paramutual game with an onerous takeout. You must be a contrarion to some degree. Thanks for telling me that he is coming to the Florida West coast. Rather than go to my regional simulcast outlet....I will make the 90 minute drive next Saturday to applaud him and his accomplishments.
look forward to seing you there

have you ever heard this term used for Pat? If anyone finds this offensive, well, sorry I didn't make it up (the messenger does not deservie the bullet). I've heard this for years around the kentucky tracks. "The Baby" was a nice rider who I thought was a little over-conservative at times. I mean, every now and then, I'm screaming "please god, make Pat go to the whip.." but, "Patient Pat" (that's another one) is one-of-a-kind...stylisticly especially..
I miss seeing him at the Downs, and figuring out how to beat him. You can't miss Pat on the track, with his perfect posture on a horse.
