here is an angle that I have made huge scores on at minor tracks. laurel, suffolk, beulah etc.
this angle is for the SECOND RACE ONLY.
1. horse must be 8/1 or over on morning line.
2. horse gets bet early 1/1 or lower.
3. 0dds slowly drift up, but never as high as ml.
this is a good horse for wp bets and to key up & down in your exactas. you'll be surprised at how often this happens and at how regularly these horses come in 1st or 2nd.
Why only on the second race? Does this angle have anything to do with the double?

no, it has nothing to do with the double. i don't know why it works in the second race, but it does. and i've found from 30 years of watching the tote board that it really doesn't work in other races.

CDAX asked about an angle with the double. This is an old one that works most of the time and can uncover some nice payouts.
1. After the first race is run write down all double payoffs
2. Divide the payoff by the morning line for each horse
3. Find lowest number
4. lowest must be at least 2 digits lower than next
5.forget about decimal points you come up with

Another great angle that I have used with much success but only on slop is add the last 3 drf variant numbers together with the last three speed figs ( not beyer) the highest total will be your choice. SLOP ONLY

I have recently discovered what you where talking about while watching and taking notes on races. I thought I was crazy at first but after taking stats on it I found it to be true . Where I discovered it was Charlestown and Mountaineer and yes this does work very well. It while watching on my computer and finding the horse would drop to an unreasonable odd and I had to look at the form again. After many races the stas were very positive

At Cheap Tracks Such As Sam Houston, Sunland, Turf Paradise I Find That Watching The Exacta Pools Will Lead You To The Horses Final Odds..because With 5 Mtp The Low Exacta Favorite Might Still Be 7-1 On The Win Board.. I'll Guarantee You By Looking At The Exacta Pool You Can Gage Where The Horses Post Time Odds Will Be;his Win Odds Will Dramatically Shift Down In Those Last Few Mtp. Don't Get Suckered Into Increasing Your Bet Just Because You Cant Believe The Best Horse On Paper Is Still 7-1...exacta Probables Says He'll End Up At 2-1 Or Lower.. Almost Always Tells The Story.

as early as possible and look at the odds for the night time tracks, such as penn national, mountaineer and charles town. some times i find some nice priced winners in the early betting.
