The angles forum will be great too!
If you are new to web facing, these sites is a must: Pedigreequery.com; Turfdedia.com.
Any time you are looking online for a current horse or connection, try adding the word "race"; if looking for handicapping, add the words
"handicapping" or "article".

If you were asked to organize a faneasy league of thoroughbred triners, is it do able? what stats would be kept?
(this is assuming that claims and entries could be downloaded and parsed from the Equibase website).

Yeah it is possible, Have you played the Fantasy Stable challenges? Thier format is pretty good. However they use trainers, horses, and owners in thier format instead of just trainers. If you were to do just trainers you would wanna tweak the format a bit. Bet it would be fun though.

Miggs,
A few of those guys know me very well. If you know Chris at Wynns tell him I said hello and this:
Jeff Lacy will not Loose Saturday. End of story. LOL
Chris, Doug et al. know me from old Stardust days. Before Chris went to Wynns he and I would professionally argue about boxing. What he didn't know was that I have served as a bodyguard for two current World Champions (Just Fight Night at the Casino). Jeff Lacy is one of them, and Winky Wright is the other. Chris would almost always take someone like Felix-Mosley etc.
I took the books out there for a lot on all their fights!
One night---A Mosley fight--- I had an extra ringside seat and asked Rick at the Stardust to go. He got tied up and Chris used the ticket. I think he became a believer after that although I am not sure if he took Winky or not.
Regardless, we may have crossed paths at many places in Vegas.
I have to stop now or John may move this thread.

TYrainers- All I am talking about is picking 5 trainers, tracking categories like win % and $, stakes wins, MD wins, etc.; then NTRA giving prizes at the end.
I like the idea of following stables instead of individual jockeys or horses.

Sorry took so long for me to reply to this.
I think that 5 trainers would be to few, depending on how many people you have in a group or league. Normal range would be 10-14 people per league.
It could get complicated assigning appropriate point totals to maiden/allowance/stake races etc. To run it effectively you would also want to include some sort of formula that takes into account win % to gauge effectiveness of your trainers.
Still it could be done and would also be alot of fun if ran right. Heck may be the next big thing....Fantasy Trainers r us .com....lol
