I have never made a sports bet. I don't understand the odds or payoffs. I don't know how much has to be bet or what the minimum bet would be. Can you please explain how sports betting works?

There's a little difference from sports & horses. Sports odds don't change much after they are posted. The Over & Under can change & can get you burnt. If the Bears & the Colts are going to play & the OU is 43 1/2 & a few days later it's 45 1/2 then Vegas has moved it up. Is it because the "tourists" are betting on the Over? Should you bet on the O? Good question. If it's raining should you bet the U? Not necessarily. The Bears fumbled because of the rain & Indy scored on them.
Indy was -7 which means that when they hit the field they were already down 7 pts. When the Bears took the kickoff & ran it downfield for a touchdown I thought my day was over. (I took Indy -7). Bookies try to make the game 50/50 is the reason for the -7 or whatever.
The minimum bet on sports is usually $5. You can bet the money line (ML). Which means if your team wins even by 1 pt you win. But that comes with a price. Most good games come out to you betting $10 to win $4. These NCAABB picks I'm putting on here would be great if I could find a site that gives ML on Basketball. I ususally pick winners but the -7 -12 doesn't always pan out. I've lost many by 1 pt.
Hope this explains it.

Thanks for taking the time to explain sports betting. I still don't know what 100/110 means. How much do you win if you make a ten dollar bet. Sometimes there is a negative sigh. Other times the #s are reversed 110/100.
I guess there are too many variables to be explained in a blog.

The Bear explained it as good as I could have. -110 is the juice a betting site or bookie gets from a bet.
