John Avello at Wynn's resort in LV has posted KY Derby futures for months now. Other books in Vegas also have em I'm sure. I will try to track down some prices for you, if you like. Within a couple of days I should have em.

Don't plan on placing a large futures bet at the Wynn . Sports Town was listed at 225-1 but they would only allow $100.00 at those odds then it dropped to 100-1 at which they would only accept $1000.00 in bets , then odds dropped to 50-1. What they won't tell you untill you get there. So if a horse drops drasticlly in odds it's probably because someone bet a hundred bucks.

We will take any action, at our posted odds!

You're saying they initially took a bet to win 22,500, and then laid a bet to win 100k? That doesn't make much sense.
I've run Race/Sports books for many years, and future books have to have liability guidelines for the house.
If you are a book manager, try going upstairs to directors after the race
and telling them you lost a million or two on your KY Derby future book!
Be looking for a new job - fast!
How far a book will extend a bet to you depends on a number of things -
and how good a customer you are in the casino has much to do with it.
If you are a high-roller with a large credit-line, the sky is the limit....
the average guy off the street is lucky to get a bet to win 20k.
That's the name of the game...it's called good business for the casino. $)

Hi Steve, in betting the futures, I always play my most desirable in the first and maybe 2nd leg, as you know each leg the prices will drop and some considerably, in the 3rd leg, I would play a few at good prices who have given the appearance they may run well in the derby.

the best examples I have for my plays are Fu. Pegasus, had him in the first leg of futures and I believe he was the fave. in the 3rd leg and was the fave in the derby, I got him at 13-1

Funny Cide was a good one also as the closer it got to the derby, the more desirable he was.

One horse that I didn't bet in the futures but followed through the Holy Bull and Fla. Derby and had him WPS and top and bottom with Monarchos and Point Given was Invisible Ink who ran 2nd at 55-1, and also made a great TRI with Congaree, that was my best score ever. Ink ran fairly well in both FL races and I gave him a chance to improve in the KY. Derby....

so, if you like a horse, bet him early cuz if he or she is the goods, you will lose the value as it gets closer to MAY 6th

A friend was sent to buy 25 $100.00 tickets at 225-1 they would only sell one , then they dropped odds to 100-1 . Not exactly sure how many they would sell at those odds , thought he said 10 , but didn't want those odds. Didn't realize when they posted odds that they would limit what you could wager at those odds.

Notrap,
If, by some miracle, you hit all those tickets, you would suddenly own a significant chunk of the casino that posted those odds.
They base their limits on how much they are likely to handle on the event.
That's how bookmaking works.......

Sounds to me like YOU know more than Tagg does. I think Tagg would be delighted to hear your suggestion. While you have him on the phone, tell him you want to apply for his job, and don't forget to mention my above statement, and add to it that I said "at 1 1/4 miles on turf, Showing Up will knock Nobiz's dick in the turf!" ::; And Tagg has already mentioned adding blinkers in his post race comments.

It seems to me that whoever wins the KY this year is going to be a $15 horse, or more... simply because the ones we have seen, thus far, keep beating up on each other.

With every passing trial, the picture becomes more murky! :)

I think the post draw for some of the best horses here will eliminate the from the start, I think there are too many horses that can win, but will get bumped out of contention. I'm just a beginner so don't be too hard on me.
I'll wait and see the draw before making my choice, but will have several that draw a descent post.
