Does this work against the other entries?
...Thanks to all
Makes the pool odds go down for them. I do not notice much teaming up during the race- I see some jockeys teaming to defeat the best horse whether C or not.
I would rather bet a third horse if those 2 were uncoupled than coupled. I bet on coupled depending on the better horse.
I have been 2 pairs of coupled horses in a race (1, 1A, 2, 2B). I will not bet those races at all to place or show, but if they are decent exacta or box is OK but pays little unless thew field is big.
Coupled entries are a unique situation...Usually the tactic is to have a speed horse to set up for the other half a closer..Often times these horses go off at even money or less...the best bet then may be place if perhaps the 1-1a finish 1-2 you can get a very generous place price because your getting the total place pool....New York Racing and perhaps a few other tracks got a great help to the gambler...if one part of your entry is scratched they assume you were betting the scratched horse and will give consilations on P3..The horse that is left to run,,,runs for purse money only and is a non betting horse...........Does anyone know what other tracks employ this rule???
