Interesting read from Litfin on second time out maidens in reference to their speed figs. Good handicappers are always inspected second time starters. The article inferred based on a statistical study that MSW horses that have run below 70 figs are likely to improve dramatically. Firster's that have run 80 in their debuts are more likely to regress and horses that run 90 should be expected to regress sharply or bounce{average of 25 beyer points} based on the triple crown nominated horses in his sample. Beware.

I have seen som run Much lower than 70! like on off tracks or eased. Could even have bleeding or another correctable preoblem and do much better next out, right?
