:) hi friends,
yes, i think brian sears is great.as a future star? yes again. but please do not foget there are also some great harness drivers out there.remember dave palone. sears could not keep up with him at the meadows.and please dont tell me that palone was getting the better horses to drive, because i will use that arguement the same way for sears at the meadowlands.how about tony morgan.if these two drivers went to the meadowlands to drive, i would like to see who would be leading driver.my point is the meadowlands drivers is looked upon as the best there is in the industry.not necessarily so.

He had a bad drug addiction. Think it was cocaine.

John Campbell is not what he used to be, a few weeks ago I think he ran 3rd on a 115 to 1 shot. The horse must have had 3 legs, how on earth did Campbell go off at 115 to 1?? I remember he would win 3 or 4 races a night over at The Big M. You could mortgage the house if he rode a favorite, now he runs 2nd and 3rd with the favorites...

Brian Sears is on a three day suspension Mon-Tues-Wed,
he went to Florida to visit family. Bad drive on Mar. 11
in the 4th race. Track is idle for two of the day's anyhow.
tough punishment.

Anyone ever pay attention to Buffalo raceway.
Payoffs are terrible, James Morrill is winning 5 or 6
races every racing night. Batting 47.8% wins with
a .630 UDRS. Did the same thing at Batavia Downs.
Ever since he left The MeadowLands, he has been
dominate at these two tracks. Seems like he can win
with horses that no one else could.

by talent the dancers including donald, sholty, haughton, abbatiello, del insko to name a few. but if you wanted to score in the old days loosh for buddy regan was your man. it was common knowledge that leading trainer buddy & loosh had the juice. my brother worked for regan circa 70-3 ,then for the crawfords at vernon & kenneth kleinman. he was a kid then & started grooming &moved up. he gave me the signal many times. i think at 1 time we were on over a 90% role. but my brother had his provisional drivers & trainers licenses. but they wouldn`t let him break in in the metro area. he was in his early 20`s wanted to get married so he eventually left the game. but what might have been. case was up in canada for awhile .they threw him out of ny. growing up roosevelt was my 2nd home. was so pissed when they shut down. now yonkers turned into a 3rd world track. they`re supposed to be putting in slots. i don`t know. i know that i`ve had nites betting over the phone .hit 2 p4`s + & won $20 . the big m though harder ,you only need to hit 1 good race to win for the nite. i live out in queens . don`t make it there as often as i`d like. ny trotting is dead .but many baby boomers still retain a love of the sport. i`ll tell you i like the 1/2 mile oval i grew up with it. but i detest the passing lane. how do you guys like it ? thegrandmeister

What ever happened to Walter Case Jr?
He was one of my favorite drivers.

I'm sorry to say Walter is in prison right now because he stabbed his wife during a domestic argument.

I believe he is by far the best driver the sport has ever seen. It's a shame he has had so many personal problems in his life.

Walter drove a few horses for me when he was driving in Chicago for John Carver and I found him to be a very nice person.

I've been around the sport for 30 years and trained for 20 years and I'm telling you nobody can get as much pace out of a horse as Walter Case can and nobody can carry a tired horse to the wire better then Walter can.

Put all of his personal problems aside and Walter Case is the best driver in harness racing history.

yes he was good .they all have their time periods dominating their home tracks. fillion was better than case, abbatellio, lots of the old grand circuit drvers. he was good .maybe your relationship has jaded your judgement .i`ve been going trotting for40+ yrs . really you can`t seperate the great ones. thats what makes barroom arguments & such. who was better cardigan bay or bret hanover. great is great .yes case should be mentioned along with the best. but he was not the best. 1st of all you have to go back before the modified sulky . well all i`m trying to say is he was dominant in his time . but who knows how he would of fared vs the drivers of my youth. i hope he is able to survive his sentence & be a free man. & good luck to you sir thegrandmeister

I had no relationship with Case. He drove a few for me when I was training. I know talent like I know horse flesh and I believe he can flat out team one better then anyone I've seen in the last 35 years.

"SAD STORY"

The Meadows on 3/25 race 8. Had bet KINGPIN to win,
He won on the outside. Long inquiry and they disqualified
him to 3rd for interference in the stretch near the finish line.
Have watched the replays a dozen times and could not see
any interference. But the called it.

Watched the replay at Harrington, which Hal Belote was killed, one of the worst harness accident's I've seen. Seen some bad accident's at
Batavia and Buffalo many year's ago but no one died.

I'm new here but judging from the dates on these posts I guess not many play the harness races.
I've been handicapping for over 25 years both thoroughbreds and harness horses and I love both. Handicapping both for me was easy because I lived just 15 minutes from the Meadowlands.
I just changed my focus as the seasons changed there. I did learn to handicap however with harness racing. To this day I do believe starting with harness racing was the best way to start and learn.
I say that because the transition to thoroughbreds was not difficult. You just had to learn to change some emphasis. Thoroughbred handicappers seem to have trouble when switching to harness because of their emphasis on "speed".
I remember reading "Beyers book The Winning Horseplayer" where he talks about how harness cappers view a race. At the time that was old news for me. Still a great book however in my opinion.
Anyway just wanted to say hello and see if anyone reads the harness thread.
Hope you cash a few!
