I can't argue that there was a rail bias at CD and speed was holding unusually well(which used to be called Keeneland!), but I think Street Sense's 10 length monster off had alot more to do with Street Sense's ability than it did the rail. He and CQ both moved simultaneously, with neither having to check. Sure he saved ground, but not 10 lengths worth. He has talent. His sire had talent. It was "an arazi like move!"

I had liked this horse from before also. Had I known about the bias at that time I would have bet evn more on him. But, he lost the nod in the Kee race (Borel moved too early) and ran 3rd - beaten a nose by Circular Quay - the JC favorite. And I read on Brisnet two days before the race that Carl N. said he had not yet asked the horse to run - and that he was "cranking him up" for the BC JC.
He is a nice horse, he has a great trainer, he got a good trip, and benefitted from the rail. Good luck to the connections.

I had him also, because I beleive that Nafzger did not have fully cranked up in his previous races. One side note, I think that he did have to "Check" pretty hard on the far turn while on the move with CQ. I believe that Calvin will lose this mount in the future. The rail doesn't open up like it did in that race everyday.

He was definitely one of the easier "price" plays to pull down. I too put him on my short list of contenders in that race, although I hope people don't start hyping him as the horse to beat in May. Great Hunter is probably still a contender, as perhaps Circular Quay is as well. As impressive as the win was, I won't hesitate to put a future bet on one of the other two if I don't get at least a "square" price on Street Sense.

I had Street Sense as my key horse -
but , as usual, the rest on my ticket
didn't follow suit.
Does make you wonder if it was the
track bias.
However, I played him - becuz of his
daddy, Street Cry.
I will be watching out for Street Sense
when he becomes a three year old and
hopefully makes it through the prep races
towards the Kentucky Derby.
It would be wonderful if Street Sense could
break the "juvenile Breeders win jinx" and
go on to win the Kentucky Derby.
That ten length junvenile Breeders win
was stunning.
Hope his trainer has "street-sense" and
not use him up before then, tho!

My point is I think he is very talented, and I expect to see other good runners by street cry, who was very good also. But you're right. Alot can happen between now and May. Arazi.

Nafzger's comments in the DRF doesn't indicate he is trying to win the Tampa Bay Derby, just give SS a workout. I would key him for 2nd and 3rd behind AGS. Nafzger does have a plan, to win the KY Derby. All the other trainer's have a plan too. Unfortunately, it's only going to work out for one of them.
