Did anyone else experience the unbelievable delay in receiving payouts after the BC Classic? At the Woodlands the delay lasted about an hour. The explanation given was " a problem with the Pick 6 at Churchill." Was this a Woodlands unique communications foul up with Churchill ? Or did the tote system at Churchill generate this poor customer service? When the payouts finally came up, there was a mad dash to the few remaining open tellers by the hundreds of bettors holding cashable tickets. Others went home without getting paid. I have not seen this addressed in Breeders Cup wrap-ups.

I assumed it was because of the pick 6 - because even after they put up the prices it said "hold" next to the price for the pick 6.

It was a delay, I was waiting to collect on the tri - unfortunately I didn't have to wait for the pick 6 price.

It's usually the multirace wagers that cause most of the tote problems/delays.

I understand the delay on the Pick 6, but all payoffs were delayed here for an hour. I waited since I had the trifecta, exacta, and WP. My concern is for the delay turning new/non-frequent bettors off, and was the delay uniform across the country.

Wasn't having the winning tickets "Worth" the delay?

I don't recall ever having to wait an hour to collect on a ticket.... it would seem to me, in this day of computers, that it should NOT take that long, though.

But.. it was a big day, a big payoff, and the last race of the day.

All I do NOT know about tote delays would fill a big book!

is it possible the delay is to make sure there isn't any possible "funny business" going on with winning tickets like from a few years ago meaning verify that the winning tics. are valid???? Because of the amount of course......

I certainly would NOT rule out your suggestion. It was a TON of money, for sure ... and, I hadn't thought of that possibility. Good idea.

It actually takes days to track down where winning tickets for the pick 6 are played. After that they look at how the ticket was played. I doubt that the person who won the pick 6 has even collected their $ yet. They will probably print an article saying where it was sold and the combination in DRF.
