You are right. Solid handicappers taking a comprehensive approach must take a good look at horses with the high profile connections that fit at today's class level.... but the name of the paramutual game is not just picking winners...or recognizing decent trainers....it is getting paid well enough on the odds board when you do win. You must take home enough on the wining races to overcome all the ripped up tickets and then some! There are "odds on" favorites that are truly deserving....but there are actually many favorites that are vulnerable. None of these top guys win 100% percent of the time and betting on connection underlays is a sure way to be grinded into the dirt over time. The takeout in this paramutual game is very very difficult to overcome if you play a lot. A winning handicapper must make the judgement when to step up and agressively take the true overlay in the pools...You absolutely must avoid the low priced favorites that are being bet down well to far for any reason. An overlay might be created when JR rides a Pletcher entry that is really suspect. It may come from Prado being aboard a Frankel horse that is unsuited for the distance or surface. Maybe a horse is susceptible to a "bounce' or the early pace scenario. Good players make decisions after they make their contender selections based on the board. The true proposition. Few true lon term winners wager blindly on a certain rider or trainer without supporting information. I hate the question I get all the time at the venue "who do you like" The question should be "is there an entry that has a much greater possibility of being first or second than the odds board suggests? Who is the underlay and is there an edge? May not sound romantic ...but it seems to me that you make money when the public is making mistakes in this game.

I have heard a lot of good things regarding his brother. Where does he race? What is his name?
Thanks,
Steve
