In the para mutual game....trying to toss vulnerable chaulk is the key that opens the door to overlays. What are some of the warning signs or angles that help you make a stand against an entry?

Several things I look for is..the bounce theory...can the horse produce another peak effort.....Wednesdays featured Saratoga 8th race was typical of a bounce. The favorite was in the #10 post at about 4/5 or even money..rushed up to the lead in fast fractions and a very poor bet.......
If a favorite is trying something new for the first time. Distance or surface(turf or slop)or a different race track..Some horses do not win at different tracks..e.g..Calder horses with speed usually do not do well at Tampa Bay Downs..
Post position and track bias can also be very effective in throwing out vulnerable favorites....and one last angle is horses running for a tag...especially if you see what thhe horse was claimed for and how cheap they are letting it go for...Delaware and some of the Racino racetrack casinos
the purses can even out bigger claiming horses dropping in price..

One thing I look for, in vulnerable favorites, are claimers that haven't raced in 20 days. So many of the races are C5 or less ... and you can lay odds that not many of those 3/5 or 4/5 horses will win.

Too late to help this year, but one thing I look for is a favorite with an outside post in a turf race at Del Mar.
