New Sire Richly Blended Dies of Colic!

Eight year old Richly Blended with a winner from his first crop only a few days ago, died of colic Sunday at West 12 Ranch in Lodi Ca.
Richly Blended by Rizzi, won the Gotham Stakes and Withers Stakes, both Grade 3, and ran second in the Grade 2 Wood Memorial Stakes to Congaree and Monarchos, all at Aqueduct. In just 6 starts in 12 weeks he earned $323,280 . His half sister Splended Blended is a G1SW earning $642,810 in just 9 starts.
His first foals are 2-year-olds, he had his first winner last week, 1st time out at Santa Rosa. He was the property of BnD Thoroughbreds.

I am pretty bummed about this http://www.websitetoolbox.com/images/boards/smilies/bawl.gif
I have a mare in foal to him and was planning on taking another back to him next year if his runners started hitting.
He was a very sweet stallion and so were his babies. He was very fast and very well conformed a breeders dream. Why do the good die young?

It's always disappointing, and quite sad, when one loses a 'friend.'

I suppose all of us have gotten attached to a horse at one time or another, and it does seem that if the good don't die young, they sure get hurt and quit racing.

Just found out he had two in today at Santa Rosa who came in 1st and 2nd for $32,000. As far as I know they are starting off showing they have speed. Yeah for us since our mare (in foal to him) and her offspring are all speed too.
Darn I was so looking to breeding my other speed mare to him next year. Currently she is in foal to Swiss Yodeler.

Can I invest $2 and become a 'part owner? ' :)

I absolutely hate it when a promising new sire dies too early.
If we as fans are bothered by those early demises -
what about the owners?!

I still have to wonder, tho, (like a detective, of sorts,)
what's causing the newer sires to die of heart attacks
around breeding time.

Giant's Causeway really gets around and so, I guess,
I shouldn't be worried, then.
