I have seen several polls asking what race most impressed you in 2005. Every Poll had the same winner hands down. That winner was?

i think the most impressive race was the Belmont. The sheer ease that Alex won with was really the exclamation point of actually how dominant he was over amongst the three year old crop.. it was like Rose was driving a ferrari against a bunch of corollas. That move was so quick and effortless, and above all else, athletic. The Preakness was a great example of his athleticism as well. And also the amount of energy he had compared to his rivals.. only a horse who completely had his legs and full control of his balance could have stayed up. Time will tell how good or weak his rivals were, but it was like watching Lebron on ESPN against high school kids.

Saint Liam's first start of the year at GP last January. Roses in May was odds-on to him and Liam jerked-off on his way to HOY. Afleet Alex had some cool wins too and just a cool overall career. Even better than his Preakness or Belmont was a stakes win at Saratoga in a sprint. That day, I believe it was August of '04, he broke slow and clearly didn't like the spa's slop. Still, he made a big move and got up in the last jump. I was like, "Holy Balls." Next thing ya know, Rose was taken off for Velazquez at Oaklawn and he lost. With Rose back up he pulverized a group (on acid).
Ghostzapper's comeback win was more impressive than Alex though too come to think of it. Now that would've been a Classic: Afleet Alex/Ghostzapper/Saint Liam. Who would've won?

i know what point you're making... dont seperate the horse and jock when they are good together... but alex did have a lung infection that day at OP. a healthy alex would sodomize Greater Good, right? (even if a 225 lb me was on him)

in the hexafecta that day; I keyed him for fourth and fifth. Holthus has him another one going.

yeah he's that langfuhr that couldn't bust his maiden last summer against pigs... he's gone nuts.... i don't know what has happened, but he's absolutely gone nuts... i actually think just on times and his aggressive nature he can run with the big boys... we'll see soon..
