Welcome Boulder,

Overtime I have basically learned how to handicap software. I use several to validate my selections. In the future I plan to write more about my methods right here at TW. For now I can say that early speed has been a critical factor in sprints and Bris combined for Turf. Secret Weapon? That would be the dam and sire spi. Sometimes the dam/sr spi.

If you have access to these figures they can nail many pricy wins. An example would be "Neuilly" entered in Santa Anita's first race today 1/11/06. Easy win if you know when and how to apply these to your selections.

I am ahead of myself though so be sure and come back

Sure thing...

I have been an ALLWAYS user since 1995. These days I use in some way ALLWAYS--HTR--Power On Line-and all of Bob Pitlak's programs. His recent work is based on Kleins research and if I had used the software more than a few days (just got it this week) I would have played the #7 in Tampa's first race today. The stand out selection based on early speed paid $40.00 to win.

Don't misunderstand- these programs don't give anyone the 1-2-3 at the races for the whole card, but they sure speed the process of locating the contenders. I rarely spend more than a few minutes on any race. I don't allow the time to second guess myself. I do plenty of research to improve my game, but that is after the races at night. Forever looking backwards I guess.

Well put Steve. My mentor always told me that I split hairs to much, handicapping a race down it the most finite pieces.
If it takes me more than ten minutes to figure out a race, I pass.
