I have a mare i want to breed. This would be my first time ever doing this so i need some help if available. her name is ain't she a beauty. she is by wild escapade out of a timless native mare. i was looking at stallions with northern dancer, nurvey, raise a native in their pedegree. i am in california and looking for something in the 5000 dollar range. can anyone please give me any suggestions on how i should go about breeding and which sire line best suits the mare. thank you in advance

Do you want a 1/2 sibling to Moscow Burning for $3,000.00? Nureyev-Northen Dacer line.

for the sibling to be a half brother wouldn't they have to have the same mother? sorry if this is a dumb question i'm new to all this.

yeh, I was thinking of my Jackass ancestors!!LOL!!
How about stop-sibling? No relation? Don't know.
What I do klnow is that the patriarch of the Harris operation, John, is past president and currnt board member of the Caifornia Horse Racing Board, so you will not get screwed over!
I eat their beef and near Coalinga ate at their restaurant and got gas at ther station. Never flown into their landing strip!. Visit their website- nothing to lose.
They had 8 first time starters in a row win their maidens at one point, and the whole operation is quality.
You can order some of their beef online if you wish!

I don't disagree with moscow ballet, I'm just gonna throw a few more out off the top of my head. I don't know nicking patterns, I just know these guys throw runners. Category Five(2500), Sea of Secrets(3500), Western Fame(3500), Event of the Year(4,000), Formal Gold(5,000), Mud Route(5,000), and You and I(5,000). If you're looking for turf pedigree, Atticus, Comic Strip, Momentum, and Gentlemen all stand for 5,000. Good luck!

Weird?
"Kim Hammond, chief executive officer for Falls Road Animal Hospital, said many horses develop laminitis after a broken leg, but a severe race injury inhibits recovery even more so. Ruffian, Holy Bull and Event of the Year found similar fates. All were put down after breaking legs."

With the mare (filly) tracing to Big Hurry/La Troienne, if you could swing it, Roar at 10K would provide a return to Big Hurry, and he has done well as a sire in California, but like I said, it is double what you want to spend, may be you could work out a deal with them for next year, it is kind of late for this year....

i would love to spend more on breeding her but dont have that kind of money. i do have a horse in racing and hope to get another one soon maybe by next year if they win a few races i will be able to afford it.

I had the same thoughts when I looked in the stallion register and saw Roar, but he was out of your price range. Maybe your horses will run very well, or you'll hit a nice pick 6 before springtime? Nothing wrong with Moscow Ballet, it might even be a better cross, who knows? Of course we're just throwing out names for the fun of it, do you know a bloodstock agent, or know someone who does?

Well i tried calling and emailing the farm where moscow ballet is located at and they never returned any calls or emails actually of all the farms i tried only one was very responsive and very helpful http://www.ballenavistafarm.com . so i decided to breed her to sea of secrets. They did an enicking for me and it got an "A" so i guess thats a good thing. I dont understand what an enicking is but i do like sea of secrets pedigree.

Has your mare did any racing? If so... how did she perform?

chango55
09-08-2006, 01:28 PM
Yes she did some racing. she did well till she got hurt after that she went down hill. she made about 70,000 on the track. she was running for 40 - 50,000 she did end her career running for 2000 though. thats when i bought her.

I thought he was a bargain when he stood for 5grand in ky, now he's an even better deal in CA. SOS had a 2yr old that sold for alot of money a couple of springs ago, I think 2.something million? Good luck with that!

yeah i think you're thinking of baffert's filly, My Miss Storm Cat... she is still racing and is good... he is really going slow with her, still running her in small stakes and alw conditions.... i don't think she has ever been beyond 6 panels.
