What I normally do is watch all the MSW races at SA. The horses that run good but can't quite win at this level are the one's I track. When they get hungry enough for a win and drop them to a claiming race then I totally check the horse out. The claiming game is not for the weak at heart. When I do claim a horse I take it to Turf Paradise in AZ. I would rather have a big horse in a small pond than a big horse in a big pond. If I can't find anything at SA I will be going to the Barretts sale in May. ( where big money is paid for untested horses ) If anyone hears of a horse I can't live without please let me know. $50,000 max. On sunday I have a horse running at Turf Paradise. I think the dark cloud has finally lifed on this filly. This horse had a displaced pallet and I had her operated on using lazer. I threw her in a cheap 5,000 claimer last out to see how the surgery worked. She won easy. This time I am raising her to 10.000 and from what the trainer tells me she will be tough. You may get good odds. The horses name is Heavenly Plan and will be running in the first race.

Thanks for the heads up.

How are the purses at TP?

I'll keep my eyes out. I think it's best to claim horses from low % trainers. The horses usually have some upside. But, you probably had that angle already.

Good luck

The purses at TP suck. A couple of years ago there was a prop on the ballot to allow slots at the track but it was voted down because of the huge indian campaign against it. New Mexico seems to be the new era of raceing on the west coast. They seem to be building a new track every year. They of course have slots.

Dear RJ I do not know how cheap claiming horses can run at Turf Paradise or
tracks in Ohio the purses are so small..Yesterday I noticed Alburq,Track
also has small purses,,,Must be a lot of cheatin going on..,cause I dont think the money is in winning...although I do know hay is better quality in Ohio and much cheaper than Florida...the economics seem out of wack..Delaware has good purses where you can claim a horse, drop it and make money...must be because of slots....thanks for the tip good luck Sunday

New York has a good one coming on, this young Campo Jr. has the stuff as a trainer- give him a shot, you can get lucky like Maggi Moss, her record speaks for itself, money, good owner, solid work ethic, and desire to succeed are there. If Campo keeps his nose to the grindstone he is a force to reckon with in the future, give him a good horse, he will improve it.
